REMINESCENCES

A film by RASHID MASHARAWI

A city lost in the Mediterranean Sea, an indelible memory that stubbornly persists, generation after generation, to keep it from oblivion. Oral sources and archive images bring it back to life, and sound brings it to life. As if we were strolling through its narrow streets and attending its very first shows and screenings, Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi takes us on a tour of Jaffa, the birthplace of his parents and grandparents, who were forced into exile in 1948. ‘Reminiscences’ is a cinematic experience that attempts to blur the boundaries between time and space. The director takes us on a journey of discovery through magnificent photographs, letting his nostalgia breathe new life into the motionless bodies depicted.
