The latest project by Rashid Masharawi, titled Passing Dreams, will premiere at the prestigious Cairo International Film Festival, one of the most significant cinematic events in the Arab world. Filmed in 2023, this feature has been selected for the festival’s opening and official competition.
A Symbolic Journey
Passing Dreams tells the story of Sami, a young Palestinian teenager in search of his elusive homing pigeon across Palestinian territories. Believing his bird has returned to its place of origin, Sami embarks on a journey that takes him from his refugee camp to Haifa. Along the way, he is joined by his uncle and cousin, crossing the “Green Line” and meeting other Palestinians.
Throughout this journey, Sami and his companions discover not only new landscapes but also stories of life, resilience, and struggle. Passing Dreams delves into universal themes of hope and memory, all with a touch of sharp irony.
